Annam Brahma

‘Hindus say, Annam Brahma: food is divine.

So with deep respect you eat, and while eating you forget everything,

because it is prayer, it is essential prayer.

You are eating God, and God is going to give you nourishment.

It is a gift to be accepted, with deep love and gratitude’.

The joy of eating

Eat, but eat meditatively, silently. When you are eating, you are talking.

Don’t talk, because if you are talking you will miss the joy of absorbing God into yourself.

You will miss the joy of eating, and when you miss the joy of eating,

your hunger for taste goes on asking for more, so you go on stuffing.

Cooking with awareness

Handle even a single leaf of a green in such a way that it manifests the body of the buddha.

This in turn allows the Buddha to manifest through the leaf.

This is a power witch you cannot grasp with your rational mind.

It operates freely, according to the situation, in a most natural way.

At the same time, this power functions in our lives to clarify and settle activities and is beneficial to all living things.

Gate of sweet nectar

Calling out to hungry hearts.

Everywhere through endless time.

You who wander you who thirst.

I offer you this heart of mine.

Calling all you hungry spirits.

Everywhere through endless time.

Calling all you hungry hearts

All the lost and left behind

Gather round and share this meal

Your joy and sorrow

I make it mine.
